December Family Christmas Party!

Our Christmas party on December 5th was a great big success with about 275 attendees including Santa who visited with about 100 happy children and their families. There were activities for the children including cookie decorating, crafts, and games. Pizza, meatballs, appetizers, salads, holiday fruit, chips, beverages and desserts were served. Families enjoyed an outdoor screening of The Elf, a holiday-themed movie. There was food, beverages and fun for everyone! Don’t miss this BIG event next year!

2nd Annual Cabana Club Triathlon

The second annual Cabana Club Triathlon was hosted by member Paul Kelly on December 31st at 1pm.

The event included a 1 mile run, a 2 mile bike ride (only beach cruisers allowed) and 10 lap swim.

Despite the great winter chill, about 45 members attended and/or participated .

Congratulations to all competitors!

Cabana Club Lifeguard Applications

Applications will be accepted for lifeguard positions beginning Saturday, January 10, 2015. Applicants must be at least 15 ½ years of age by May 1, 2015. All applications must be submitted to the Cabana Club office by Saturday, February 28, 2015.

Come by and admire the new LED pool lights

In December new LED pool lights were installed. The new lights create a new blue hew
in the pool that looks really great. Stop by a take a peek anytime after dark. The new lights are expected to reduce our electricity bills.

Executive Board Meeting Reminder

The next monthly Executive Board meeting will be on Tuesday, January 13 at 7 pm in the clubhouse. Come find out how the club is doing financially and what lies ahead for the club in 2015.

HB Lifeguard and Junior Guards

The City of Huntington Beach will once again be renting our pool for lifeguard re-qualifications and Junior Guard tryouts.

Lifeguard re-qualification dates and times are:

  • Saturday, Feb. 21 : 7:00 am – 9:30 am
  • Saturday, Mar 28: 7:00 am – 9:30 am
  • Sunday, May 3: 7:00 am – 8:30 am
  • Sunday, June 14: 7:00 am – 8:30 am

Jr. Guards Tryouts:

  • Saturday, April 18: 7:00 am – 12:15 pm
  • Saturday, May 2: 7:30 am – 12:15 pm
  • Wednesday, May 6: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
  • Saturday, May 9: 7:30 am – 12:15 pm
  • Sunday, May 17: 7:30 am – 12:15 pm
  • Thursday, June 4: 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Tennis Academy Program

Registration is underway in the Cabana Club office or at the tennis courts for the Winter Tennis session which started on January 5, 2015. The session will run through March 20, 2015 and offerings are available for all levels, children, youth and adults.

Session will run for 10 weeks ending March 20th.

Drew Arbeiter will not have classes March 9-13th.

Dates will be announced for tennis events such as a Kids Tennis Play Day, adult round robins and adult and junior tournaments.

Tennis Court Reservations

Please call the Club Office at 714-536-8006 to reserve a tennis court. The reservation schedule is now posted (current week and next week) on the club office window near the entry gate. Calling ahead will ensure that courts are available as scheduled.

Parking Lot Safety

Drivers are NOT allowed to stop at the entrance to parking lot or chain-link fence to let out children near front gate! This creates a safety hazard for our children and risk to cars attempting to enter parking lot from Atlanta Ave. This is an accident waiting to happen. Please, no parking or stopping.
A fine of $50 will be assigned to those drivers observed breaking this rule. Be safe, and please drive through the driveway and park in the lot.
