May 11, 2020

Hello Cabana Families

We hope this message finds you all safe & healthy... . we have some good news! Starting Monday, May 11th we will begin offering use of the club for Tennis & Lap Swim only.

This may not be the news you all wanted to hear but it's a step in the right direction, we are all so eager to get back out to our fun weekend's pool side, but we'll all have to be a bit more patient. We cannot consider "social/free use" of the pool until Gov. Newsom moves closer to Phase 3. We will continue to watch this situation as it evolves, especially these next 2 weeks, and make necessary adjustments weekly/daily if necessary. In the meantime, we intend to do everything we can to keep the monthly dues at the reduced price until we all have full access of the facility.

Our main priority is to keep everyone healthy and safe! For the time being, access to the property will be limited to office hours; Monday-Sunday 9am-5pm to ensure proper sanitation and social distancing regulations are followed. Gate access will be admitted through front office only. Every member on the property must sign a release form or access will not be granted. To help reduce the risk of contamination we have reduced the number of touch points throughout the property.

The following amenities on PSCC property are unavailable until further notice:

  • Clubhouse
  • Restrooms/Changing Areas
  • Showers
  • Ice Machine
  • Drinking Fountain
  • Play Structure
  • All Tables, Chairs & Lounge Chairs

We are asking for all members to please adhere to these restrictions, we know it's frustrating. This is a constantly changing situation, we are watching closely and constantly in contact with the city. We will loosen up restrictions as soon as possible. Please be patient. We are working with limited staff to keep costs (and dues) to a minimum. And, please be extra polite to our surrounding neighbors, we do not need anything working against us right now.

PLEASE Stay home if you:

  • Are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus: mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough and difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC.
  • Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • Are a vulnerable individual. A vulnerable individual is an elderly individual and/or an individual with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma and those whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy.

Immediately notify PSCC if you contract Covid-19, (714) 536-8091.

Cabana Club Families,

We wanted to send out a quick note to acknowledge your eagerness for our Club to re-open, especially with this amazing weather we are having! Please know the closure is not a Board decision but a city ordinance we must follow. Judi Hall has been in direct communication with city hall and was told our mayor, Lyn Semeta is following Gov. Newsom Stay at Home Order in its entirety. We are not an essential business and may not open under any circumstances. We are watching the situation closely and will reopen as soon as we are given guidelines under which to do so.

Thank you
Cabana Board of Directors

Hello Cabana Family,

We sincerely hope this letter finds you all safe & healthy at home! We acknowledge you haven’t heard much from us, but rest assured we have been working behind the scenes to manage our club (and our own personal families & kids) to our best ability. It is our hope this letter will answer some questions you all have. Please note we have reduced our staff and office hours, please allow extra time to respond to your inquiries – for the quickest response please send an email to gm@cabanaclubhb.org

We have had a few inquiries requesting to open the club back up for tennis or lap swimming, it is a unanimous decision by all 5 Board Members to keep the Club closed for now.

On March 18th when the State Order required us to close, we cut back on any/all outside service, utilities, office hours possible. Now that we have a couple weeks under our belt with these reductions, we have been able to quantify what that savings looks like and will be passing that on to all our members. May dues will be reduced to $63.00 family membership & $31.50 for our remaining individual members. This reduction is meant to offset the Club Closure for the Month of April. We will be watching the situation closely and will pass along any additional savings possible for future closures. Additionally, any Annual Assessment fees that are currently due between now and June 1st will be postponed until July 1st.

If your family is in need of additional financial support, please email us on the Board directly at cabanaclub.secretary@gmail.com. Our intention is to help in any way possible to retain our current membership while securing the financial longevity of our Club.

Here is a snapshot of the current status of our programs:

JG Prep Classes & Tryouts-SUSPENDED. We are working closely with the various JR Guard Programs and will make every effort to reschedule our classes. It is important to note there have been NO DECISIONS made about City or State Jr Guard Programs at this time. Therefore, we are also holding off on making a decision. We also understand in these times financial situations can be overwhelming – should you need a refund for sessions that were not started (session #5-8), you will receive a full refund. Session #1-4 that got ½ way thru will be receiving a 50% refund if we are unable to reschedule. Please note we cannot guarantee your child a spot in the event we are able to reschedule the session. Please email your refund request to us at manager@cabanaclubhb.org.

Stroke Clinic-CANCELLED. Full refunds for those who registered and paid are being processed now as pool will definitely be closed thru April 30th.

Pacific Sands Swim Team-SUSPENDED. Please continue to register your swimmers so we can all plan accordingly – No Pymt Due At This Time. Please refer to letter from Swim Board President Kyle Tague for additional details. (Posted on our website at cabanaclubhb.org)

We greatly appreciate your patience during this time. We are doing our best and hope you all can appreciate our service. We want the best for our families and our club because we LOVE it!!!!

Sincerely your Board of Directors:

Judi Hall – President
Jason Moller – VP
John Winkels – Treasurer
Kelly Morrison – Secretary
Justin Holmes – Social Media

Dear Penguin Families,

First, I hope this message finds you and all your friends and family healthy and safe! These are some crazy times we are living in, but I am certain we will come out of this battered but not beaten. I think I speak for the whole Cabana Club/Penguin community, that if during this time you find yourself in need of anything, please do not hesitate to reach out. I might not have what you need at the time, but I am sure as a community we can find it. I am confident that soon enough we will all be enjoying each other's company in person and hanging by the pool! Until then, stay safe.

Onto some important updates as it pertains to the Penguins Swim Team and what a possible season looks like as of now. First let me address Jr. Guard Prep and April Stroke Clinic. We are working closely with the various Jr Guard programs to possibly re-scheduling Jr. Guard Prep. Due to this, we are putting anything related to Jr Guard Prep on hold until the ability to make a final decision is possible. If you are in need of a refund for an un-started session, you can request that at this time, but we can't promise a spot available for your child in the event that we are able to reschedule the session. The sessions that did start will be eligible for a partial refund if we are unable to re-schedule them at a later time. April Stroke Clinic is canceled as the pool is closed at least through the end of the month. Refunds will be processed and arranged for those who had already registered and paid.

So, what does a possible swim season look like? I can assure you that the league and all the other teams are looking at every possibility. First and foremost, we will not look at any option that puts anybody's health or safety at risk. For that reason, we will be closely following the guidance by both the state and federal governments as well as various governing bodies like USA Swimming. Our priority #1 is the well- being and safety of our swimmers, coaches and families! As of right now, the earliest start to a swim season would be May 18th. If this becomes a reality, and to be honest it is a very long shot, we would be able to salvage the full meet schedule except for relay finals. It has been determined that every option available will not include relay finals.

If May 18th is not realized, the league is working on backup plans and schedules for start dates of June 1st, 15th and 29th. Each schedule will present its own challenges and variations, but the objective is to maximize whatever portion of the summer we will have available to us. If the season is not able to start by June 29th, it has been decided that we would most likely forgo a formal season and look for alternative "camp" style swim activities at that time. Although I am unsure of the final details of what we will be doing, I wanted to push out as much information as possible. Please stay tuned for more updates as they become available.

Registration for the season is still open and I encourage all families to continue with registration. However, no payments will be due at this time. Registering will allow us to plan accordingly with the coaching staff and volunteer needs. Once the final plan for the summer is known, details along with payment details will be made at that time.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Coach Cory. We will do our best to get back to you with whatever information we have at the time. Please look for a formal update in early May as the next scheduled league board meeting is set for May 1st.

Sincerely,
Kyle Tague
PSST President
